"QUICK-STEP":
It has been argued that the old-fashioned, time-tested line diagrams in which siblings are placed side-by-side provide a better overview of a family tree than in the following table in which they, as well as their stepbrothers and stepsisters, are lined up vertically. Although the names of one father's children are given identical identations, these names are often widely separated by the space taken up by members of subsequent generations. This can make identification of a generation of offspring quite inconvenient. To overcome this problem, we have added a feature, quick-step©[H.K. van Eyken], wich has been successfully used a number of years. In this particular application, clicking on hyperlinked numbers causes jumps to the next sibling. Once the last sibling is reached, the next click returns the first sibling. Quick-stepping is not applied where the full range of siblings can be readily seen on an 840×1024-pixel screen. 4
